The Mineral Products Association (MPA) is the Trade Association for the aggregate, asphalt, cement, concrete, lime, mortar and silica sand industries. It represents over 400 members in the UK who supply over £9 billion worth of materials which underpin the UK’s £120 billion construction sector. Representing members’ interests on policy, planning and technical matters with government departments, local authorities, professional trade bodies and other key audiences at European, national and local levels.
The MPA requires an ever-expanding family of websites, many that match the professional, award-winning good looks of its parent body website. And that’s exactly what we delivered.
Main website: www.mineralproducts.org
This website won the Best Website Design Category in one of the UK web’s most prestigious award ceremonies.
Identity Studio (formerly CPR Works) support a number of sites for MPA including many trade association members such as the British Lime Association and informative sites such as Virtual Quarry
A year in the making… but well worth the wait, the Virtual Quarry is an extraordinary resource for teachers and young children.
Using virtual reality, video, flash movies and a host of down to earth downloads, it’s the UK’s essential guide to what really happens behind the barriers of a quarry! Kids can “drive” the truck right into our super-safe quarry and talk to the manager, set off an explosion and explore the full story behind a modern British quarry.
The website is aimed at teachers and their young pupils but there’s bound to be something of genuine interest for everyone. This site was nominated for a Webby Award the year after we designed it, which is the Internet equivalent of an Oscar… and recognition doesn’t get any better than a Webby!
Other MPA sites developed by us include:
Careers in Quarrying (which sends out emails of registered users details to various member companies, to alert them of candidates for various roles). Campaigns such as ‘Stay Safe… Stay Out of Quarries’ and ‘Cycle Safe’.
A Private Members website – Including secure housing of many private/sensitive documents only accessible to approved users. The members application uses a bespoke admin system, that automates many tasks.
Interactive Nature Map showing former quarries now converted to nature parks across the UK. Recently updated to use the full Google Maps system, where the front end uses multiple icons which can be clicked on to reveal more information on each site in designed pop-ups. A fully bespoke admin system was coded, with full control over site locations, controlling companies, icon and image elements making keeping the map up-to-date very quick and easy.
